Memorial Day

We had a nice laid back Memorial day weekend.  Saturday morning we hiked mission peak.  It was 5.6 miles of steep hill. It was intense, but it felt good. After that, Jason's dreams came true when we went to an RV show. Jason has a secret love for RVs and camping trailers, and I'm pretty sure we will own one someday. A town near the hike was having a big RV show so this was our chance to go inside each one and see what we liked. It was actually really fun. I say actually because I was just going to be a good wife, but I ended up enjoying myself.  That afternoon we hung out with our friend Stacie, while her mom and sister brought Letty down so she could hang out with us. Sunday evening my parents came down, we had dinner, watched a movie, played a game, good times. On Monday morning we headed to Gilroy. We stopped for breakfast at a local diner, then headed to the outlets. We had a great day of eating and shopping.
At the top of mission peak
I carried Ollie the last 10% of the hike, which was tough, I was pretty proud of myself
Ollie was tuckered from all the hiking he did
Ok so I was really excited to go inside one of these babies, holy cow they are so nice!!!
This is the inside of that RV.  There is a massive bedroom and bathroom down the hallway, even a washer and dryer onboard.
This is the kind of thing we want, perfect for family camping trips
Letty and I after church, I guess purple was the theme

Fleetwood Mac

Ok people brace yourselves. I am about to do something I haven't done in about 9 1/2 months. I am going to do a post with no pictures of Ollie...gasp!! I know, crazy, some may have even thought impossible, but here I go. Last night Jason and I went with my parents to see Fleetwood Mac at the HP Pavillion. We took the light rail from our house right to the HPP which is so convenient for going to concerts. We went there with no tickets. We took a sign saying "We Need Tickets" (this has worked for Jason before), but we were promptly scolded by the police. So Jason and my mom headed across the street where they found 2 tickets, and my dad and I hung out near the box office where I got two tickets. One of the tickets I bought (for $30) from a guy who makes the guitars for the band. The seats were 5 rows back near the side of the stage. It was amazing. The seat next to me was open so Jason sat with me and my parents ended up getting pretty good seats not too far from us. It was such a fun night! Here are some pics.

Before we left

And meet the newest member of our family! Jason is so awesome and surprised me. I knew he was getting me a piano but I thought we were ordering it this weekend so we could get it on a Memorial Day sale, but no, he ordered it a few weeks ago and it arrived yesterday. I am SO excited. Although Jason says I have to read the owners manual before I can play it :)

"Whats wrong with your boy's leg?"

Ok, so funny story for you. Ollie does this really funny scoot/crawl thing. He started doing it because he would be holding a toy in one hand and still trying to crawl, now it is just one of his favorite ways to get around. Well he was doing it at church yesterday and this guy we've never met says to Jason "whats wrong with your boys leg?" Jason just laughed and told him he just likes to crawl that way. So funny, anyway, there isn't one particular event to talk about this week, we have just been up to lots of random stuff. It was really nice to have a weekend with nothing to do. Ollie continues to entertain us non-stop! He is such a funny kid. He took one little step on Saturday. It was such a small step I don't really want to call it his "first step". I'll let you know when he takes a step I consider "the first step" worthy. Anyway, here is a little of what we have been up to.

Ollie loves to take walks. He cracks me up cause he puts his feet up and just enjoys!! We get so many comments like "Thats the life" etc, and I agree, must be nice to be a baby.

Ollie's newest "trick" is emptying out every cupboard and drawer he can reach. It's fun for him, not so fun for mom. This kid is a tornado!!

This is Ollie favorite new face. It is a little crusty but he makes it every time someone talks to him. He's a dork :)

Ollie and I went with some friend to Santa Cruz on Friday. We had a great time. Our friends go every week and I think we will be frequently joining them.

Saturday our town, Campbell, had the "Boogie on the Bayou" downtown. We decided to walk around. It was so HOT on Sat so we stopped at the park on the way home to enjoy some shade. Ollie loves swinging, if you didn't notice.

Busy Weekend

We headed up North for the weekend so we could spend some time with our families. On Saturday, Jason participated in the Tour de Lincoln. It is a bike ride through my hometown of Lincoln. It was a 63 mile ride. My Mom, Dad and I volunteered at the event. Jason had a great time, and it was fun because my Aunt did the ride, as well as Hal Burton. That evening I went to my cousin Michelle's baby shower. She is due next month and we are so excited! It was such a nice shower and she got lots of good stuff.

For Mother's Day, Jason made his mom and I a big, delicious breakfast. Jason got me some really cute clothes that he picked out (he has very good taste). We are also looking into getting a digital piano, which is my actual mother's day present but he wanted me to have something to open on the actual day, he is sweet like that. We went to church with Jan and then visited my grandparents, then had dinner with my parents, then back over to my aunt's for dessert (I told you it was a busy weekend).

While we were at my aunts someone put down this bouquet of balloons, Ollie didn't quite know what to do with himself!

So of course he tasted them all :-)

Crazy balloon hair (don't mind Alicia being creepy in the background)

So every time Letty gets a hold of my camera she takes like a zillion pictures of herself, this is payback (sorry Alicia) :-)

Ollie Is A Big Faker!

So Ollie is in that really fun stage where he mimics us, I love it. He claps when we clap, laughs when we laugh, dances when we (ok, me not so much Jason) dance and he mysteriously develops a cough when we cough. I know every kid does this but it seems like the cutest, most original thing when your kid does it. Sorry the video is a weird color, it was on a different setting and I didn't realize it until after. This was today at the park.

Here are some funny Ollie pics. Most of them are sleeping pictures.

When we got to our campground last Friday it was raining. Ollie hair is really getting long and when it is wet it is fun to make it all crazy

Napping in the RV, it was warm that is why he has no clothes on

I found him asleep like this the other day, his foot is on top of the bumper

Ollie isn't the best napper, it is no secret. Sometimes on the days I work he only takes 2 naps, so we usually put him to bed early. This particular day the missionaries where over for dinner and so he fell asleep in his highchair. I felt really bad for the poor guy. I snapped some pictures then put him right to bed.

Wildflower 2009

This weekend Jason participated in the Wildflower triathlon. He did the Long Course (Half Ironman), which is a 1.2 mile swim, followed by a 56 mile bike ride, and then a 13.1 mile run. He did so awesome. His lofty goal was 6 hours and he came in just under that. He has trained so hard and I am so proud of him. I also think this has alleviated his desire to do a full Ironman anytime in the near future.

Jason had lots of supporters. His mom, my mom, and my little sister joined us for the weekend. The triathlon was at Lake San Antonio, which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The closest town is about an hour away, so everyone who comes camps out. We rented an RV, which was so fun. We got there Friday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon. Jason's tri was on Saturday. Since we were so close to Cal Poly there were lots of young, crazy people around, which made for a good atmosphere. On Saturday after the race a large group of Cal Poly students (both male and female) participated in the "Naked Run" around the campgrounds. I think the name of the run pretty much sums it up, needless to say we had a lot of fun watching that! I will refrain from posting pictures (because you KNOW I have pictures) ;-).

Ollie and I outside the RV getting ready to cheer on Jason
Jason (waving) just out of the lake heading up the ramp to transition to the bike ride
Starting the bike portion of the race
We were able to see Jason get into the water, and then we waited the 35 minutes or so it took him to do the swim portion and then we were able to see him start the bike ride. After that we headed back to camp, Ollie took a nap, we ate lunch and made Jason some posters. It was really fun because our campground was on the running course around the 8th mile. So we were able to watch and wait for Jason to come by. After that we headed back down to the finish line just in time to see him finish. We actually saw him a lot considering how long the race was, I didn't expect to see him as much as we usually do.
This is us walking back to the finish line with our posters, with the beautiful lake in the background. Let me just say the "walk" to and from the event to our campground was INTENSE!! And doing it with an additional 20 lbs of extra weight on the front of me was tough. It was good to get some exercise and I can't complain too much because Jason had to bike and run this same hill during the race.
Jason coming through the finish chute, he looks pretty good considering what he had just been through!
So proud of my husband!
Ollie was more interested in eating the poster than holding it up for his dad.
All of us, notice that Jason is the only guy (besides Ollie). Our dads were suppose to come but it didn't end up working out, so here is Jason and his women.
Hanging out, enjoying the perfect weather
Ollie decided to venture away from the group, he loved being outside getting dirty, and I just let him, I mean we were camping (sort of)
Apparently this book is riveting, Letty finished the whole thing over the weekend
Family picture during dinner, Ollie just went from person to person begging for food

Happy boys enjoying the sunshine
We had such a good weekend. Jason has felt really good after the race. I am just so amazed by him, he did such a great job. I'll let everyone know when the next one is in case anyone wants to come cheer him on, we always have lots of fun!!
