Sundance Film Festival

Tonight Jason and I went to Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. We weren't able to get into the movie we wanted to see, so we just walked around downtown. We look forward to the festival each year, not so much for the films but just cause we love Park City and any excuse to go up there. Unfortunately, we didn't see any celebrities (last year we saw Paris Hilton), oh well maybe next year.

The last couple times we have gone to Park City we ate at this cute little deli, it is now our newest tradition to eat there, if we want to eat light. If we want to eat big we eat at Bangkok Thai on Main, it is soooo good!!!

Patients Needed

I don't have anything exciting to post but I did want to put a plug in for the Hale Center Theater. We love this little place. This weekend we saw "The Man With The Pointed Toes", it was quite funny. For those who live here in Utah I encourage you to check it out. If you are a student and you call and get tickets the night you want to go, you can get tickets for half price with your student ID. We love it because we feel like we are supporting something good. There is a bigger/nicer Hale Center Theater in West Valley City as well.

Also, for anyone who lives in Utah without dental insurance, I start seeing patients at my dental hygiene school starting Jan 29th and I need as many patients as I can get. It is free to come, and you get a very thorough cleaning, xrays if needed, etc. The only catch is that it takes about 3-4 hours. Because it is a school, we do a very thorough job and instructors have to check all our work. If you are interested let me know.

Cars

Tonight we attended a yearly Auto Expo. This is our third year going, it is really fun. All new cars are on display for you to check out, sit in and gawk over.

Being that Jason is very into cars, the topic comes up fairly frequently in our home. Tonight I realized that Jason and I will never see eye to eye when it comes to picking out a car. Besides the Toyota Prius, which we are both huge fans of, there was not one car that we could agree on possibly getting in the future. Jason wants a fast car. He doesn't care about the features, color, comfort etc, he just wants a car that is the very best at something. He doesn't like cars that are mediocre at everything. For example he loves the Toyota Prius because it is the very best at fuel economy, or the Surbaru WRX STI because it is the best performance for the price. He is very passionate about this. I appreciate his passion, I think it is one of the things I love most about him, but I cannot understand why I need a car that goes from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds when I am taking the kids to school or soccer practice. Tonight we sat in a WRX and "discussed" this for a while, and I have come to the conclusion that I will never understand his need for a fast car, but I love him so I will get my Prius and he can have a WRX.

Jasons side of the argument:
Mediocrity has taken over our society, you see it in everything from our cars, to our computers, to the food we eat. I like to find the better things in life, the ones that stand out from the crowd. I use a Mac because I don't simply want a crappy Dell that gets the job done, I want a computer that I love to use and own, I want something of superior quality, design, and functionality. I don't feel this way about everything, and I'm not arguing that everyone should be passionate about cars or computers, but I am, and I would like to explain my reasoning. I hope to never buy a car that is sort of good at everything while at the same time not great at anything. These are the Camrys, Accords, and Corollas, of the world, practical, functional, and down right boring vehicles, like Ginny said, I like cars that excel in their given area. You may argue that the Accords of the world do excel in one thing, practicality, and you would be right, but practicality will never inspire any passion. To sum up my point I refer you to Revelations 3:15-16.

This post is a trip down memory lane for me and some of my friends. We had a really great group of people we hung out with and we did lots of fun stuff. I miss those times but it is fun to keep in touch and see where life takes us all!

Palm Springs

We had a fun last couple days in Northern California. Jason and I were able to go to the Sacramento temple for the first time with our families. Jason was able to work on all the different projects he had going on at home, and I had some friends over to play games. We left for Palm Springs on New Years Eve. It was sooooo nice there. The weather was seriously so perfect, 70-75 degrees everyday, with a slight breeze. We pretty much just relaxed the whole time, we played a lot of tennis and some golf. We were very sad to leave the nice weather and fly into a big snow storm and 30 degree temperatures in Salt Lake today, but it is still nice to be home.
