Lehrfelds Come To Town

Our friends the Lehrfelds came up from the bay area for a visit this weekend and we had a great time with them.  When we first moved to Campbell, Carlie was my very first friend. She came and visited me when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, counting down the days until Ollie was born.  She has been a great friend ever since.  She watched Ollie while I worked when he was really little, until just before Max was born.  Jason and Ben served in the EQ presidency together and share many of the same hobbies.  We love the Lehrfelds and are so happy they came to visit.
They got here late Friday night.  Saturday morning Jason coerced Ben into helping him move a bee yard.  While they were gone, me, Carlie, and the kids hit up a couple of yard sales.  We went on a walk and played at our favorite park. After lunch and naps, we headed over to Jason's parents to say hi to Jan and show Carlie and Evie the bees.  From there we were off to John's Incredible Pizza where we spend the evening eating and playing lots of arcade games.  After the kids were in bed we played 'Rate Your Mate' (thanks Paul and Amy).  It was a good day.

Jason continued to utilized his time with Ben.  Here they are cutting holes in our bedroom ceiling.  Jason is kind of anal about cleanliness so Ben is assisting with the vacuum to avoid a mess :)   Now we have speakers in our bedroom, all part of Jason's whole house sound project.

"We had fun!"
Lily didn't want to go to bed Saturday night so she hung out with us until she absolutely couldn't stay awake.  Here she is crashed out on Carlie.  She loves her momma.

Jason and I went outside last night and checked out the "super moon".  We agreed that it looked a little bigger and quite a bit brighter.  Then I woke up at 4 in the morning and the moon was shining so bright through our window I had to take a picture.  It doesn't fully capture it, but trust me, it was bright.

Sunday we walked around downtown Newcastle where they were having a old car show.  It was a beautiful day to get out and walk around.

Ollie and Evie found a nice shady spot for a snack.

The railroad tracks go right through downtown so when a train came by we rushed over.  The kids loved watching it so close up (although Ollie obviously thought it was a little loud).

When we got home we prepared lunch.  We bbq'd hamburgers and hot dogs (fancy I know).  We christened our deck and ate outside.

I made a chocolate cake.  Max was more than happy to lick the spatula for me, but not so happy when I took it away.

Just so you know, if you have any kind of trade or skill and come to visit us, Jason will take advantage of it.  I keep telling him people are going to stop coming if he keeps putting them to work on house projects with him.  Luckily Jason has good friends who put up with his non stop questions.

The kids really put our little play structure to good use.  It was so fun watching Ollie and Evie play.  I swear when we were home, we hardly saw them.  They kept each other pretty entertained and got along 90% of the time :)

This was a really cute little moment, until Ollie started squeezing a little too tight.

The best we could get of all the kids.

Thank you for making the drive up here to visit us!  We miss you guys and can't wait to come down and visit when we get back from ND.

I was thinking about it today and Evie is going to be one of those friends that Ollie has known his entire life.  I love that.  So I went back and found some pictures of Ollie and Evie through the years.  So precious.
