Lots of Visitors

If you know us, you know we LOVE visitors. This past week/weekend we were lucky enough to have lots of visitors. On Tuesday night I picked up my little sister Letty from the San Francisco airport. She was flying home from Ecuador after working at an orphanage for 2 1/2 months. It is always so much fun to spend time with Letty, ask anyone who knows her. Ollie also loved having his Aunt "Betty" (his pronunciation) around. We didn't do much while she was here, mostly just hanging out outside since the weather was so awesome, and of course shopping.

On Friday some of our best friends came down from Sacramento to visit. My friend Brendi and her two kids, plus Brendi's sister Brianna, whos boyfriend lives in San Jose. Needless to say, we didn't see too much of Brianna ;) When they got in we packed some snacks and headed to Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. There is a cute little farm about a mile in. It was a really warm day, and it felt so nice to get out. That night we ate dinner at home and just hung out. Saturday our other best friend Stacie came down from San Ramon to hang out. We did a little shopping and then went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner, we should have got a picture of our group (and of Ollie throwing a MASSIVE tantrum...it was awesome). That night we had lots of girl talk and played games. Sunday we all went to church and then Brendi headed home. Letty stayed to babysit for me while I worked Monday but I ended up being sick so she just took the train back Monday. It was a great weekend and I am so lucky to have such awesome friends. Btw, Jason is the best husband ever. He was so good to just stay out of our hair and let us be together. Thanks honey.

Love this guy so much.

Thanks for coming guys, we loved having you.

Pregnancy Update:
I had a Drs appt today (15 weeks) and got to hear the heartbeat. It was a pretty uneventful appt, which is good. We have our big ultrasound appt on April 20th. Can't wait to find out if Ollie is going to have a baby brother, or sister. I'm leaning toward brother :)

Continuing Education

This past weekend we headed up to San Francisco so I could attend a continuing education course. We left Friday evening, hit a TON of Friday night traffic, and spent the night in the city. My class was at the Grand Hyatt in Union Square, so we stayed just a few blocks away so I could walk there in the morning. My class was most of the day, so Ollie and Jason got to spend the day together, and they had a ton of fun. It was a gorgeous day in SF.

This kid is happy if he is playing on a bed with lots of pillows.

They went to the pier.

Jason and Ollie in front of the bay bridge.

Waiting for his balloon at the farmers market.

Jason says this was the best $2 he ever spent, Ollie was completely entertained the rest of the day.

"Cheese"
They also rode a cable car and went to the cable car museum, bummed I missed that :) After they had lunch with me they went to a childrens museum with a huge carousel and play area.

Me with Dr. Stanely Malamed, DDS. My class was about Local Anethesia, and this guy was the speaker. He wrote the Local Anethesia book I used in hygiene school, so he is kind of a big deal in the dental world.

Ollie really likes wearing these rings on his wrist. He will put like 10 on at a time. Trying to get them off has proved more difficult. Mostly it ends with him yelling "STUCK" and me trying to untangle his fingers so we can get them off.

"What are you looking at?"

A Belly Pic

The belly pic is at the end, but I know I get excited when people post belly pics so the title was to lure you to the blog :) Lots going on in the Miller household. Life is about to get really busy for us as triathlon season is starting in a few short weeks. Jason and I were marking dates on the calendar and it is going to be a busy/fun summer, we are looking forward to it. The fun starts next week when my little sister gets home from Ecuador (where she was working in an orphanage) and is going to hang out with us for a few days. Then we are off to San Diego so Jason can participate in the Oceanside Half Ironman triathlon AND so we can visit good friends we haven't seen in FOREVER. Right after that my other sister comes in from North Carolina with that adorable niece and nephew of mine...ahhhh I'm so excited to see them all. Lots of updates to come in the future. For now here is what we have been up to.

Playing in the backyard on sunny days.

"Mom why do you always have that camera pointed at me?"

Ollie got into my mascara. Maybe he will be a makeup artist.

Ollie finally fits into this cute pair of motorcycle jammies from Aunt Jenny.

I love his cute profile.

13 weeks. This was taken today like 5 mins after I woke up. I seriously just have to do it when I think of it. I'll try to get more dressed up next time.

The other big thing going on in our life right now is weaning Ollie from his beloved binky. Actually he isn't that addicted to it, he only uses it at nap and bedtime. My parents think I am a huge jerk for taking it from him, but a couple nights in a row he woke up crying because he couldn't find it. I don't want him to be SO dependent on something to sleep. And I don't want to wean him right before the baby comes and then have him revert back to using a binky cause the new baby will probably use a binky. Anyway so Saturday night I snipped the binky so it doesn't work anymore. I like this way because when Ollie asks for it I still give it to him like normal but he chooses not to use it. I left the altered binkys in his crib so if he searched for it in the night he would find one. I have expected him to wake up multiple times in the night since he wouldn't have a working binky to sooth him back to sleep, but he hasn't woken up at all. He has had a hard time calming down and going to bed but we're working on it. Overall it has gone really well. Maybe he was just ready. I will still use a binky with my next child (if they will take it). Those 18 months of being able to quiet my child are worth a week of weaning in my opinion. Next time I will probably wean a little earlier though.
