Girls Gone Wild :)

I had a great weekend. My two sisters and my niece decided to come visit us, and since one of my best friends Stacie lives close she came down too. It was SO fun. I love these girls. We shopped, played games, and ate...yep that about covers it. Jason was such a good sport. He took Ollie and Lys on lots of walks, and generally just stayed out of our hair (probably more for his own good than for ours). It was a great time. And everyone left early enough on Sunday that we still got some family time in. I love Sundays.

Also since Ollie is now 4 months we have started him on rice cereal. I know now you are suppose to wait until 6 months, but I just don't produce enough milk to satisfy my little guy and our pediatrician said it is fine. It has been really messy and a little frustrating for all parties involved. Ollie is still getting the hang of swallowing his food. But we are seeing some improvements and I'm sure before I know it he will be gulping it down. If anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them. In other Ollie news, he is now rolling from is back to his stomach. He did it once while my Dad was visiting but it took him quite a while, but yesterday and today he has done it multiple times and gets faster each time. My baby is getting big :( Anyway here are some pictures.

We got our Christmas tree last week, at a little church by our house.  You would think we still live in Utah judging by the way we bundle the little guy up!

Ok rice cereal looks and smells nasty!  But I guess you have to start somewhere.

Ollie was more interested in the spoon and the bowl

I don't know if you can tell how messy he was but he is really messy.  In fact the reason his hair is up is because it has rice cereal in it (don't ask me how that happened).  He also has had a little bit of a runny nose so he just looks really scrubby, poor kid, who are his parents?

This child is the WORST napper, best night sleeper, WORST napper.  He sleeps for like 30 mins wakes up crying with his eyes closed, like he is not ready to wake up, so I cuddle and soothe him for about 30 mins and he eventually falls asleep again.  He slept once for 2 hours during the day and I about died!!!  Napping tips would be appreciated also.

Cousins watching The Incredibles together.  Alyssa is so good with Ollie, she loves to take care of him

Happy boy

Letty being cute.  On Saturday we walked to the park to enjoy the nice weather (have I ever mentioned that I love the weather here, cause I do).

Lys being cute at the park, she loved the merry-go-round

I love this picture of Stacie, hey guys, she's single :)

Chrissy is so good at getting Ollie to laugh

Ollie is so cute! I love that he and Jon have/had a lot of the same outfits. On the rice cereal thing, we tried that brand that Jason is holding and Jonathan had a much easier time with the Gerber instead. Jon is a poor napper too. We got really dark curtains for his room and run a fan or humidifier and that seems to help a little bit. Good luck!

Yup, go Gerber...and make it REALLY thin, like almost formula consistency. You can also add a tsp to a bottle to thicken SLIGHTLY, which will still go through the bottle but fill his tummy. As for napping, put him in another room and let him cry himself back to sleep. Sound evil? Thing is, by cuddling him back to sleep, he's relying on you to soothe him to sleep...but if he cries himself back to sleep he'll break the nap-wake pattern and just sleep. (Takes about 3 or 4 days...but DON'T GO IN THERE!) Finally, ALL kids have sleep issues right around 4 months of age and then again at 9 months-ish, which is SOOOOO normal. No worries...it'll right itself soon!

You guys look fab! Merry Christmas!

Looks like you all had fun this weekend. Sorry, I don't have any tips on rice cereal or napping. I guess I can just say that I read that Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby book & started giving my kids more sleepin time and Deacon actually loves taking naps and going to bed at night now.

So cute! Can't believe he's already old enough for rice cereal.
Daniel wasn't such a fan, so we went straight to 1st stage baby foods, and that went MUCH better.
As for napping, some babies struggling transitioning to deeper sleep (usually around 30-45 minutes), so some people recommend doing something that will keep them from transitioning to deep sleep but not wake them up. They call it a "crib bump"- at 20-25 minutes or so, lightly bump the crib so they don't fall into deep sleep. Just an idea (never used it myself). Good luck!

wow...what cute pics of little Ollie. I love his eyes...so big and adorable. :) Again, I wish I could've been there with you guys just like our girls weekend. By the way, we should do one of those again, it would be way fun and way overdue!

Cute pics! Sounds like all is well. Like I said in my email Kaylie didn't do so well with the cereal for awhile and then bang one day just knew what to do. I put formula in it too which i think helped and we also used the gerber brand. I also let Kaylie play with her spoon between feedings so she became familiar with it. Kaylie started napping better when I made her do it in her crib! Also I found that when I kept her awake longer before her first nap she napped longer. I would go about 3 hours at least. Also I make sure she is really full before naptime. I give her cereal right before naptime routine. Hope it helps. I'm no expert and every baby is different!

What cute pics!! My kids HATED rice cereal, wouldn't eat it. Have you actually tasted it? It's pretty nasty, I don't blame them. Once we went to baby food they liked that much better. As for the napping, I agree completely with the comment about letting him cry. Don't let him nap anywhere but his crib. Have a fan or humidifier on to help block out some of the noise, and if he wakes up after 30-40 minutes, let him cry. He'll be ok!! I learned this with my 2nd baby, who was a much better napper/sleeper than my first. These are some things that worked for me. Good luck!
