Continuing Education

This past weekend we headed up to San Francisco so I could attend a continuing education course. We left Friday evening, hit a TON of Friday night traffic, and spent the night in the city. My class was at the Grand Hyatt in Union Square, so we stayed just a few blocks away so I could walk there in the morning. My class was most of the day, so Ollie and Jason got to spend the day together, and they had a ton of fun. It was a gorgeous day in SF.

This kid is happy if he is playing on a bed with lots of pillows.

They went to the pier.

Jason and Ollie in front of the bay bridge.

Waiting for his balloon at the farmers market.

Jason says this was the best $2 he ever spent, Ollie was completely entertained the rest of the day.

They also rode a cable car and went to the cable car museum, bummed I missed that :) After they had lunch with me they went to a childrens museum with a huge carousel and play area.

Me with Dr. Stanely Malamed, DDS. My class was about Local Anethesia, and this guy was the speaker. He wrote the Local Anethesia book I used in hygiene school, so he is kind of a big deal in the dental world.

Ollie really likes wearing these rings on his wrist. He will put like 10 on at a time. Trying to get them off has proved more difficult. Mostly it ends with him yelling "STUCK" and me trying to untangle his fingers so we can get them off.

"What are you looking at?"

My boys taking a nap after church.

A Belly Pic

The belly pic is at the end, but I know I get excited when people post belly pics so the title was to lure you to the blog :) Lots going on in the Miller household. Life is about to get really busy for us as triathlon season is starting in a few short weeks. Jason and I were marking dates on the calendar and it is going to be a busy/fun summer, we are looking forward to it. The fun starts next week when my little sister gets home from Ecuador (where she was working in an orphanage) and is going to hang out with us for a few days. Then we are off to San Diego so Jason can participate in the Oceanside Half Ironman triathlon AND so we can visit good friends we haven't seen in FOREVER. Right after that my other sister comes in from North Carolina with that adorable niece and nephew of mine...ahhhh I'm so excited to see them all. Lots of updates to come in the future. For now here is what we have been up to.

Playing in the backyard on sunny days.

"Mom why do you always have that camera pointed at me?"

Ollie got into my mascara. Maybe he will be a makeup artist.

Ollie finally fits into this cute pair of motorcycle jammies from Aunt Jenny.

I love his cute profile.

13 weeks. This was taken today like 5 mins after I woke up. I seriously just have to do it when I think of it. I'll try to get more dressed up next time.

The other big thing going on in our life right now is weaning Ollie from his beloved binky. Actually he isn't that addicted to it, he only uses it at nap and bedtime. My parents think I am a huge jerk for taking it from him, but a couple nights in a row he woke up crying because he couldn't find it. I don't want him to be SO dependent on something to sleep. And I don't want to wean him right before the baby comes and then have him revert back to using a binky cause the new baby will probably use a binky. Anyway so Saturday night I snipped the binky so it doesn't work anymore. I like this way because when Ollie asks for it I still give it to him like normal but he chooses not to use it. I left the altered binkys in his crib so if he searched for it in the night he would find one. I have expected him to wake up multiple times in the night since he wouldn't have a working binky to sooth him back to sleep, but he hasn't woken up at all. He has had a hard time calming down and going to bed but we're working on it. Overall it has gone really well. Maybe he was just ready. I will still use a binky with my next child (if they will take it). Those 18 months of being able to quiet my child are worth a week of weaning in my opinion. Next time I will probably wean a little earlier though.

Showtime

One of the many things I love about living near big cities is the awesome entertainment available close by. Last night Jason and I went and saw Cirque du Soliel Ovo in San Jose. It was AMAZING! If you have the opportunity to see it, I highly recommend it. It is so nice to go out with just the husband sometimes, I love date nights. Thanks honey for planning such a fun date.

It is really like the circus, inside a huge tent. Can you tell I was tired? I worked all day and stayed up WAY past my bedtime, but it was worth it.

Waaaaayyyyyyy back in November, Jason took me to the So You Think You Can Dance show at the HP Pavillion for my birthday. I left my camera in NC so I wasn't able to post about it. So here are some pics from the show.

One of my favorites, Randi.

And Evan.

Our seats weren't very good, but during the first half Jason noticed two seats in the FRONT row that were empty. During intermission he dodged security so we could make our way down there and we then enjoyed the rest of the show front and center. It was amazing to be that close, and the people sitting next to us paid over $600 for their seats. Although I must admit I am a bit of a rule-follower so I was sure we were going to get caught, it took until almost the end of the show for me to realize no one cared and that we weren't going to get in trouble.

Here are some other gems from awhile ago that were on my camera.

Alyssa carrying Ollie while we were in NC.

I've never seen Risky Business, but we all recognize the scene with Tom Cruise in a white shirt and underwear, here is Ollies rendition.

This kid is just too cute for words!

FINALLY!!!!

Introducing my brand new nephew Nathan Stefan White. Born February 23, weighing 7lbs 15oz. I have been waiting and waiting, very impatiently I might add, for this little man to make his appearance. I am SO excited for my sister and her family. I just wish we lived closer to each other, it is so hard to be away at times like this.

Can't wait to meet you little guy!!

Relaxing Weekend

Last weekend we drove home and visited Jason's parents for the weekend.  My parents were in North Carolina visiting my sister who was about to have her baby.  Ollie and I drove up Thursday afternoon, Jason was already in Elk Grove for work, so it worked out good.  That afternoon we picked Jason's sister Michelle and her husband Eric up from the airport, they were in town for a wedding.  We had such a great weekend just relaxing and hanging out with family.  Friday morning Jason needed to do some work from home and everyone else was at the wedding so Ollie and I met up with my good friend Spring.  We know Spring from our time in Provo, and haven't seen her since Ollie's blessing, it was so fun to catch up.  She has two adorable children, including Ryan who is only 6 weeks old.  I loved holding him...I just love newborns.
The only picture I got of us.
Saturday morning Jan, Jason and I went to the temple, while Ollie stayed home and played with Grandpa.  They had a lot of fun together.
And of course Ollie with the vacuum.  He is so funny, he loves vacuuming.

He figured out how to turn it on and off, which is fun to do over and over and over.

Ollie was so cute with this doll.  He kept setting her down and sitting right next to her and saying in the sweetest little voice "Hi", and then he would give her kisses.  Seriously he is going to be the best big brother (assuming he doesn't carry his brother or sister by their hair, like he was with the doll).

"Cheese"
We tried a new Thai restaurant in Auburn, it was really good.  Obviously I'm getting my appetite back.

Michelle and Eric thinking "we love Thai food".

Jason's dad got a little scooter.  Ollie LOVED going on rides with dad.  Please don't call CPS because he isn't wearing a helmet, they were short, slow rides.

Family ride.

***Pregnancy Update***
I had my 2nd doctors appointment yesterday and all is well with our little baby.  The first time I went in they thought I was 8 1/2 weeks, but the ultrasound measured the baby at only 7 weeks.  I kept to my original due date though cause I wanted the first trimester to be over faster and I thought they might see me again and say they were wrong the first time.  No such luck.  In my mind I should be 12 1/2 weeks but I guess I am only 11 weeks.  Oh well, the end of the 1st trimester is in sight.  In the first ultrasound the baby looked like a worm, yesterday it actually looked like a baby, with arms and legs...so cute.  And it was flopping around so much, it was crazy to watch.  I can't wait to feel it again, that was one of my favorite things about being pregnant.  I have been feeling better during the day and getting my appetite back, but at night I still feel pretty nauseas.  I HATE brushing my teeth which is sad because I'm a dental hygienist, it just makes me gag and then my stomach cramps and it is horrible.  I am very thankful though to be pregnant and that so far our baby is healthy.  I just can't wait for September.  I will take a belly shot at 12 weeks.  I can't believe how fast the bump comes with the second baby!!

Sickly

We have be very sick lately :( I have been feeling generally nausea and poor little Ollie got croup, as I mentioned before. But we have still been managing to have some fun. The weather has been amazing and I honestly feel my spirits lifting. We are loving having a backyard to just hang out in all afternoon. Ollie loves it. Here are some pictures of us lately.

While Ollie was sick he loved baby einstein and he likes to watch it front and center.

This is why the drawer was made I'm sure.

Jason's parents came to visit which was so fun. Ollie loves all his grandparents, he is one loved little boy.

Ollie feels safer wearing his hard hat around the backyard.

While Ollie was sick we let him sleep with us, one morning he slept almost an hour after Jason and I, he looked so comfy in our bed all by himself.

My beautiful V-day flowers arranged by Jason himself. He also got us tickets to see Cirque du Soleil Ovo, and a few other things. He also made me a delicious breakfast. I love Jason, he is the best. We had some friends over for dinner and games, it was a great day.

Ollie's new favorite thing to do is to hide. Sometimes I get really panicked because I can't find him and he will be hiding in a closet or cabinet. Cute little stinker.

I WILL Be A Better Blogger!!

I was typing in my journal (which is also where I download and keep all my blog posts) last night and I started reading through blog posts from like 2 years ago. I use to be so thorough! I documented everything we did, in detail. I'm trying to write in my journal at least once a week to document the everyday minute detail of our lives that no one else would really care about but I am determined to do better on the blog as well. As I mentioned below we are expecting again and I have been so sick. I blame my lack of desire to blog partly on this. I don't even feel like my normal self so I just try to get through the days. I can't wait for the first trimester to be over so I can feel normal again.

So here is a brief overview of what has been going on with us. Not too much. As one of my friends said on her blog, "January is boring". I would have to agree, and the rainy weather hasn't helped.

Poor Ollie got a horrendous haircut from Mom, at least he is still SO cute.

Jason and I had a few date nights, this one we went and saw Avatar 3D. It was pretty good.

Ollie loves PB and J, mostly the J, as you can see all over his face.

It rained, A LOT!! Ollie got to try out his Bob the Builder boots.

Ollie's friend Alexander came over a few times.

My parents came and visited. We love when they come. Ollie decided to use his 'pick my nose' pose for the picture.

Ollie and Jason help with the cooking.

I'll open the oven Mom.

I just thought this look seemed so mischievous.

One of my besties, Stacie came and visited.

And the most recent news is that poor little Ollie has croup :( It is so sad. Tuesday night he barely slept because he couldn't breathe well. So we got him an appointment with the Dr and he had to get a steroid shot to help open up his airway. It is seriously heartbreaking. He slept better last night but today he is still just not feeling well. He watched baby Einstein 3 times in a row, which NEVER happens. I can't wait for him to feel better. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby sick.

Love

We've loved this one so much....

We decided to have another. Baby #2 is due in September. We are thrilled.
